Summary

In a world that profits off of women’s insecurities, Carmindy, makeup artist and founder of Carmindy Beauty is empowering women and showing them just how beautiful they already are. As a makeup artist specializing in "no makeup" makeup, Carmindy offers an affordable and streamlined cosmetics line that helps women feel good in only five minutes. Best known for her role as a makeup artist on TLC’s hit show, What Not to Wear, Carmindy quickly became a household name that millions of millennial women turned to for beauty tips and tricks. Having spent a decade on the show empowering women to feel good about themselves, Carmindy realized there wasn't a brand creating simple, easy-to-use products for busy women. So she decided to do it herself. After a few failed attempts to launch her vision, Carmindy revamped her entire life and found the courage to trust her inner voice. Rather than looking for a fast win, Carmindy is slowly building her brand for longevity based on the sole goal of helping women feel beautiful exactly as they are. and I want you to sort of share the origin story. But growing up, what were you interested in and what did you think you wanted to do? Well, growing up, I grew up in Southern California. And my mom was a watercolorist, but she had at one point been a local model, not a big model, but, you know, she had done like local, you know,

they called them tea room models back then, right? Where they would go to like Bullocks and do tea room models. Oh my God, Bullocks. Right, remember that? Yes, because I'm from San Diego. Oh, so you know. Yeah, I'm from Huntington Beach. Yeah. And so there were these photographs of her as a model. And I was this overweight chubby kid that was being teased and bullied in school. And so my mom, to kind of boost my self-esteem, would take me to art class with her. And I'd learn how to paint. And then I would see these pictures of her modeling. And I'd be like, wait a second, I want to combine the two.
