Welcome back to Kernan Affairs, our show about the cases of love gone fatally wrong that are in the news right now.

Today we begin with an update. The husband of Anna Nizovich now, who went missing while on a trip to Spain, has now been charged with murder

in connection to her disappearance. David Nizovich, a 36-year-old IT specialist, was indicted on Wednesday,

November 13th, on two serious charges, foreign domestic violence resulting in death and foreign

murder of a United States national. It's worth noting that David has actually been in federal custody since May.

That came after he was initially charged with kidnapping resulting in death.

Despite these developments, Anna's body has never been found.

Anna's brother, Diego Hinau, released a statement to people following the indictment.

He called this a step forward in their

journey to mourn while continuing to search for answers and honor Anna's memory. He also emphasized

the family's commitment to ensuring accountability for what happened. For those of you who may not

have followed this case, Anna's disappearance drew international attention earlier this year.

She vanished from her apartment in Madrid, Spain on February 2nd, shortly after traveling there from Florida.

According to friends, Anna had flown to Madrid on December 27, 2023,

following a separation from Nizovic, her husband of 13 years.

Her trip to Spain came at a tumultuous time in their relationship.

Timultuous might be putting it lightly. Anna's brother, Felipe, told authorities that the couple

had been embroiled in a nasty divorce. And, as is often the case, there was a substantial amount

of money involved in the split, something Nizovic was reportedly very unhappy about.

The detail came from a February 7th police report obtained by people. It paints a picture of a man

who may have been motivated by financial disputes in addition to the breakdown of their relationship.
