All right, everybody, welcome back to another edition of The Teardown.

My name is Jeff Luck.

I'm along with my co-worker, Jordan Bianchi.

We are writers for the athletic, and today we are here to talk about the Phoenix race for the NASCAR Cup series, which, man, I'll tell you what, just when you think, oh, maybe this isn't going to be as exciting or something,

or this race is a little bit tamer, all of a sudden you look up and there's three drivers battling for

the lead late in the race in the final laps who had never won a Cup Series race before.

And you're like, wow, well, got got another one another interesting one to talk about

jordan yeah and i'll be honest we had that we those final two restarts and you look at the guys

involved and obviously they hadn't won tyler reddick ross jessain and the eventual winner chase

briscoe it's not just the fact that they have never won it's's that, and Briscoe said this afterwards,

it's two guys in Redick and Chastain,

who I think it's very fair to say are very aggressive,

and they do not are afraid to go after it.

I had visions in my head.

I thought we were going to see like some kind of wild,

you know, these guys are spinning, bouncing off each other,

spinning each other out kind of finish. It didn't happen that way, but it was still really good.

And I went back and looked at that finish multiple times at restart, excuse me, multiple times

because I thought Briscoe did a masterable job on that.

And the timing of it and the strategy, you can hear it on the radio.

And the team told him, like, hey, listen, Chastain is right

behind you.
