Anyways, so yeah, today we're talking about the Kentucky coffee tree. I'm sure you've got many

questions for folks listening. One, does it actually make coffee? Two, are they edible? I mean,

that's kind of our thing here, right? Three, should we just kill them off since their co-evolved species are now gone?

Oh, geez, what a list.

I'm excited, though.

I mean, you should be.

To preface, like the episode we did a few weeks back about Pawpaws,

the Kentucky coffee tree is what's called an anachronistic tree.

We didn't talk about it with Pawpaw because, like, we had a lot of stuff to cover.

But the concept of an anachronistic tree is that there are species that co-evolved with things like megafauna

that once were the primary distributor of their seed in genetics.

This, like, naturally came up in conversation for me today, if you can believe that.
