I think that never stray as far has now been going for so long, what is it, about five years, six years even,

that frankly, I'm starting to repeat myself, I'm ending up in the same places, saying roughly the same thing,

into admittedly slightly different microphone and I hope this one is working.

I'll explain why it might be a bit challenging in a second, but I do have a strong sense of

deja vu this morning because it was about this time last year that I was walking up the same path

round the back of Ilkley up onto the moor having just performed the night before at the King's Hall

to a big crowd of Ilkley people and assorted other Yorkshire folk mostly. And I was in Ilkley again last night

as part of the Ilkley Literary Festival which is 50 years old, one of the oldest in the country.

And I went to an event. I was being interviewed at the Ilkley Playhouse, which was fun.

Anyway, this morning it's back out, up onto the moors, slightly different route from the one I walked last year, and in the teeth

of the continuing and ferocious remains of Storm Amy, which she apparently doesn't want

to let the British Isles go at the moment, so the wind is absolutely howling up the valley and ahead of me on the ridge.

I'm not sure I'm going to get all the way up there. The clouds are moving in a million miles an hour

across the horizon. But the sun's out and the bracken and the ferns around me are all turning brown, the leaves

are falling, being ripped off the trees by Storm Amy.

Autumn is very much upon us now.

And once I've done my little morning constitutional, up onto Ilkley Moore, I'm going to drop

down into Ilkley and see who I'd bump into there.
