We're here today, not to talk about a passage of scripture, but rather to celebrate the release of Alex's book,

Alex, what prompted you to write this book and what do you hope to accomplish with it?

What prompted me to write the book?

Well, I mean, goodness, if anybody knows the people who are watching or listening to this, we've been doing this podcast for almost five years now, guys. And, you know, there was, it has been a successful encouragement to many. I certainly have learned so much and loved it. A guy who works for Zondervin reached out to us and said, hey, what do you think about

turning this into a book? And Jim said, I don't really write popular level books. And Sam was like,

I'm a brand, what I said. I'm a brand new pastor. And so I was like, well, I don't know. I'll

give it a try. And so, and obviously I loved, I mean, you guys

have taught me so much. You've taught me how to read the Bible. You've taught me how to, you know,

I think one of the things you get when you go to seminary or when you send her faithful preaching is you,

you're given like hermeneutical tools that tell you you know it's like how to do biblical theology

I mean you taught me that 12 years ago but what this podcast has taught me to do is pay attention to

scripture in its own like section and not get everything you can but get way more from just

looking at a passage over and over flipping it over in your mind without using the the like, well, the temple and all the hermeneutical tools of bouncing out of the passage you're in.

And I had just learned so much, and I thought to myself, you know, I think I could write a book about Genesis

that doesn't constantly jump to Jesus, which is not wrong.
