He has a new paper out called The Case for letting crises go to waste.

Thank you for having me and for taking interest in this.

Yes. Well, you know, there is an interesting way to talk about the administrative state

because we're in the midst of one of three crises in the last two decades that you write about.

You talk about how there's been 9-11.

We had the 2008 recession.

So 9-11 creates a surveillance state.

Basically, 2008 recession creates Dodd-Frank and the pandemic, legislation passed

in the crisis of the pandemic, will certainly have lasting impacts.

The paper really interestingly zeroes in on quotes from politicians, whether they're

Justin Trudeau talking about a reset or Mitch McConnell talking about transcending partisanship

to pass major pieces of legislation that end up adding to the already labrindvine vast
