But what do you think of when you think of the economy of the North East?

Perhaps it's those powerful and distinct images of coal mining and shipbuilding.

When I used to be an advisor in 10 Downing Street,

my favourite part of the job was getting out of the building and traveling up and down the

United Kingdom to find amazing stories of entrepreneurs and business leaders

and then briefing the PM on what was changing in our economy.

What you might not realise is that there's 27,000 technology jobs in the north-east,

five major universities, and in a recent recording with Labour MP and Shadow Secretary of State

for Business, Johnny Reynolds revealed an astonishing fact.

A lot of people don't know that despite the widest and economic position of the North East,

they did the only region of England outside the South East that has a net export,

which is astonishing.
