Good morning, everybody. The Simplandicap for Friday, September 8th. Ended work week for everybody. Hopefully you're having a fantastic start to your Friday morning. And hopefully you had a great time watching the Chiefs Lions last night. A bit of a pain to start with a loss as we gave out over 52 late yesterday afternoon after the Kelsey News was official. That number came down a little bit.

Not so much. A couple takeaways for me from that game. I think one, I was very wrong on the

Chiefs wide receivers. Now, I'm not throwing in the towel. I'll get to that in the second,

but I thought much higher of them than I think I probably should have, and that was a lot based on camp and preseason.

It was an ugly game for Tony. It was an ugly game for more. And just none of the guys could find space and get open.

It brings me to my second point. Number two, I was wrong on being down or indifferent on the lion's defense.

Now, I don't think this unit ends up well above

average. I do think that it's much more realistic. They finish in that 16 to 20 range than my

preseason thoughts where I was looking at them as another bottom 6 to 7 unit. Definitely wrong in

that regard. There's a lot of guys in there, even without Mosley, who was not on

the field last night, who have clearly been bought into this team. Aaron Glenn, defensive coordinator,

now able to do a lot different with the guys that he has within that secondary really frees up

to pass rush a lot. So two spots where I was wrong and immediately

I'm thinking different about both of these teams. What I will say about the wide receivers is

again, it was a bit of a catching Kansas City off guard. I thought for them not being able to find

space, get open. It was just weird play calling.

Short yardage has been a bit of a tough spot for the Chiefs in seasons past,

but it really showed there were four different end-the-rounds

and second or third and short that went nowhere.

One was at the goal line, a couple in the red zone key spots.

They were dropped screen passes.

Just none of it seemed to be sort of that
