Luke 16: 1-9 - 'The master praised the dishonest servant.'

Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs:

- 952 (In 'Communion in Spiritual Goods') - “They had everything in common.” “Everything the true Christian has is to be regarded as a good possessed in common with everyone else. All Christians should be ready and eager to come to the help of the needy . . . and of their neighbors in want.” A Christian is a steward of the Lord’s goods.

Hi everyone. Welcome back to Daily Gospel Exegesis, where we do a verse-by-verse

0:54.3

So our passage today is Luke chapter 16 versus 1 to 8.

0:58.5

That's a lectionary reading.

1:00.2

I'm also going to include verse 9 in here because it really does belong to that same unit

1:05.8

of text.

1:06.5

So we'll read Luke chapter 16 versus 1 to 9.

1:11.9

Jesus said to his disciples, there was a rich man and he had a steward denounced to him

1:17.9

for being wasteful with his property.

1:20.9

He called for the man and said, what is this I hear about you?

1:25.2

Draw me up an account of your stewardship because you are not to be my steward any longer.

1:31.3

Then the steward said to himself, now that my master is taking the stewardship from me,

1:37.3

what am I to do? Dig? I am not strong enough. Go begging? I should be too ashamed. Ah, I know what I will do to make sure that when I'm not strong enough. Go begging? I should be too ashamed.

1:45.5

Ah, I know what I will do to make sure that when I am dismissed from office, there will be some to welcome me into their homes.
