| 0:00.0 | It's Friday, November 8, 2024. I'm Albert Mueller, and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview. |
| 0:13.8 | Well, as the nation prepares to go into the first weekend after the election, let's just state the obvious. |
| 0:19.7 | We're in a very different situation after the |
| 0:22.3 | 2020 election. And sometimes it's important, I think, for Christians just to take pause and say, |
| 0:28.1 | where in the world are we on the clock and on the calendar? Because as we are now ending the |
| 0:33.7 | week of the national election, we do recognize that the before and the after are absolutely |
| 0:38.7 | huge. Just one week ago, we were wondering who would be elected president of the United States, |
| 0:43.9 | and just one week ago we were being told that it was going to be such a close race that we would |
| 0:49.3 | have to get to the very bitter end, perhaps days after the election, in order to find out. |

| 1:09.5 | it would be that Donald Trump not only won, but he won |
| 1:12.4 | in the electoral college and in the popular vote. That's what no one seems really to have envisioned. |
| 1:18.9 | Now, there are some people who said we could see a scenario where it might happen, but there |
| 1:23.4 | had not even been coming from the Trump campaign any kind of consistent messaging that they were |
| 1:28.8 | hoping to win the popular vote. Now, the former president had made some statements, but it was not |
| 1:33.4 | clear that was part of a strategy. Now we know it actually was. Here's what's really, really |
| 1:39.4 | interesting. It turns out that those running the Trump campaign were running two simultaneous efforts. |
| 1:46.2 | One, the most important was to win in the Electoral College, but the second was to win the popular vote. |
| 1:52.3 | This was a matter of great urgency for the candidate himself who won the presidency in the |
| 1:57.6 | electoral college but lost the popular vote back in 2016. Now, at this point, |
