We're going to start here with that air travel chaos across the country.

Hundreds of flights have been canceled this morning as the FAA mandated cuts take effect as the record long government shutdowns strains airports and threatens safety with shortages of air traffic controllers and TSA agents across the country.

40 airports in the nation's biggest cities

will see a 10% cut in flights.

The chief operating officer of American airline

is standing by to talk with us live

about the impact of the cuts and what passengers can do.

Hey, Michael, good morning to you. The major airlines say they're trying to be strategic, only canceling flights that will have the smallest impact on passengers. But many fear, as this shutdown

drags on, it will only get worse with the Thanksgiving travel rush less than three weeks away.

This morning, travelers feeling turbulence coast to coast as the FAA cancels hundreds of

flights at 40 major airports because of the government shutdown.

Everybody's suffering in the country because of the shutdown.
