On Wednesday Kyle Rittenhouse took the stand in his own defense against homicide charges. His trial is one of the most watched in recent memory.

Last August, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse traveled to Black Lives Matter protests following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Wisconsin saying he wanted to protect businesses from looters.

Late that night, Rittenhouse claims he was confronted and lunged at by a man.

Publicly available footage then shows Rittenhouse was chased by a few men fell down and fired four shots at his pursuers.

Two people, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Hubert, were killed and a third gauge gross grotesque was injured.

The trial has been contentious. The prosecution is arguing that Kyle was acting as a reckless vigilante.

While the defense claims he was acting solely in self-defense, those sentiments are generally echoed by liberals and conservatives in the nation at large.

Throughout the trial, there have been some key moments.

Gage Grosscroyds testified that he was pointing his pistol at Rittenhouse when he was shot in the arm.

Rittenhouse began sobbing on the stand when recounting the events immediately before shooting Rosenbaum.

A man who was with Rittenhouse during an earlier altercation testified that he didn't view Rosenbaum as a threat.

And last, the judge scolded the prosecution when jurors weren't present for introducing a barred line of questioning.

The defense requested a mistrial with no chance of retrial over the same incident.
