I'm Albert Moller, and this is The Briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from

Tomorrow, millions and millions of people around the world, particularly in the United

Kingdom and in the United States, will be watching the coronation of King Charles III,

the British King.

The coronation is going to follow a procedure which has been in basic shape and basically,

in almost the same place for almost a thousand years.

There is something first of all to be said about the intersection of history and the present

and nothing makes that more clear than the pageantry of the coronation of a king.

And for Americans, of course, is not only a matter of historical and present fascination,

it's a matter that invokes no small amount of irony.

But nonetheless, even as you are looking at this, there's some big issues here, and
