Live from ABC News headquarters in New York City, this is Good Morning America.

We're going to begin with the dozens of wildfires that are raging in severe weather, targeting

heartland as we head into the weekend.

Ginger is tracking it all for us. Good morning, Jim.

Good morning. The level of risk, both for the severe storms and the fire danger, is ticking

up as we go into this weekend. And that's why we wanted to start with the latest pictures out of this trestle bridge in

Canyon, Texas that collapsed because of fire.

This does carry rail, so they're going to have things shut down for a while there.

Containments at 30 percent, they did lift the evacuations, but that's one of dozens of

wildfires that have started just this

week. Many of these from Kansas back through the panhandle of Texas into New Mexico starting the last

24 hours. So the fire danger is high. The relative humidity is low. And we've got that critical fire

danger from the panhandle of Texas back through New Mexico, also into North Dakota, Minnesota, and parts of Montana today.

Elevated fire danger for so many people.

This is all ahead of many of these systems

that are going to bring severe storms.

So lightning was captured here in Harper, Kansas.

There were a couple of damaging wind reports,

but today it's going to be about the big hail and the damaging wind. Anywhere from Guyman, Oklahoma, all the way up into southwestern Wisconsin, but it's Iowa that takes the brunt of it today, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Fort Dodge, all included. Then we go through the weekend, and Sunday looks big. Saturday's got some threat, but Sunday it looks like we introduced tornadoes and by Monday even more, George.
