0:14.3	Late yesterday news came that an indictment had been handed down in Manhattan against
0:19.2	the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump.
0:23.4	This is an enormous story.
0:25.6	This is a story of huge historical consequence.
0:28.8	No previous American former president or sitting president has been indicted for any crime, period.
0:35.9	So in an historical perspective, this is a first and it is a momentous first.
0:40.1	What does it mean?
0:41.1	Well, there are some huge questions that simply aren't answered.
0:44.4	The most important of the unanswered questions is what is in the indictment.
0:49.6	Now because the indictment is sealed at this point, what we know is what is being reported
0:53.8	in the mainstream media, but confirmation has come basically from the former president
0:58.3	in the course of a statement he made and also by people very close to the president and
1:02.8	his legal team.
1:04.7	What was expressed as surprise is the fact that the indictment came through the grand jury
1:09.3	when it came because many had assumed that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg simply
1:14.9	wasn't going forward with the indictment.
1:17.8	The criminal charges against the president.
1:20.3	So we are not going to speak of what we do not know.
