March 15th, 2024. The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. The dollar tree is about to lose

some branches. See what I did there? Oh, the tree, the branches, got it. Yeah. Family

dollar and dollar tree will close 1,000 stores. Oh, wow. Poor management and store conditions have cost

them way too much money. Family dollar, which is owned by Dollar Tree, was recently fined over $40 million

for a rat infestation at one of their

warehouses. That incident caused hundreds of stores to temporarily close. On top of the management

issues, inflation has hit Americans hard and Family Dollar just can't compete with competitors

like Dollar General and Walmart. For example, Dollar General has opened 1,000 stores per year, making it the fastest growing

retailer in the U.S.

Family Dollar will close 600 locations this year and 370 stores over the next few years.

Dollar Tree will close 30 stores as their leases expire. So wait, can you, because a lot of the dollar stores sound the same to me? Yes. So which ones are the same company? Family Dollar, Dollar Tree. And which is the other company? Dollar General. Okay. It's so confusing because they all sound so similar. Yeah, yeah. Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, they are the ones that are closing a thousand stores, but then dollar general is opening a thousand per year. So would you say it's generally a

better business? I guess so. Former and possible future president, Donald Trump, had a pretty

busy week in court. Unless you've been literally living in a cave for the past few years,

you know that he's got a bunch of court cases going on in a bunch of different states.

And this week, there were three pretty big updates in three of his criminal cases.
