President Biden has unveiled how he'd like to slice up a $6.8 trillion pie.

The president's 2024 fiscal year budget proposal includes a 3.2% increase in defense spending,

revives Biden's previous calls to raise taxes on billionaires and businesses,

and would raise the Medicare tax rate from 3.8% to 5% on people making over $400,000,

and increases funding for childcare, early childhood education,

and would expand the $35 cap on insulin prices.

The White House says the budget would reduce the deficit by $3 trillion over the next decade,

but importantly, there's almost no chance this proposal will become law.

While the president kicks off the discussion, Congress ultimately makes the budget

and the House Republicans don't like Biden's proposal.

Meanwhile, looming over Uncle Sam's budget is the unresolved debt ceiling standoff.

Uncle Sam's budget isn't unimportant, it can have a big impact,
