Passengers of the submersible that went missing earlier this week are presumed dead.

Concluding the four-day search for the Titan, a touring vessel that disappeared while

diving to the Titanic wreckage site, the US Coast Guard announced that the sub-appears to

have suffered a catastrophic implosion.

At least 10 ships and five remote-controlled vehicles, or ROVs from Canada, the US and

France searched thousands of miles and had renewed hope after underwater noises were

reported Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, yesterday, an ROV found debris fields a third of a mile off the bow of the Titanic,

and the US CG confirmed that pieces of the Titan were among the debris.

Ocean Gate Expeditions, the company that launched the Titan, said in a statement after

the discovery that it believes the sub's five passengers, which included its CEO, have

sadly been lost.
