There's a lot of gun talk happening in DC.

An 11-year-old from Uvalde appeared before a House Committee via pre-recorded video to

share her story of surviving last month's shooting by smearing a classmate's blood on

herself and feigning death.

Actor Matthew McConaughey, another Uvalde native, spoke from the White House, urging

Congress to pass what he dubbed gun responsibility laws protecting both people and the Second

Amendment.

Congress is moving, but nothing is concrete yet.

The House passed a package of gun law bills largely along party lines that has little hope

of surviving the Senate.

Meanwhile, a bipartisan group of senators is negotiating a compromise bill that would

focus on background checks, school safety, new mental health programs, and incentivizing

states to pass red flag laws, both sides seem optimistic it could pass.
