Yesterday, Justice Patonji Brown Jackson was officially sworn in as the first black

woman to sit on the Supreme Court, which is the only positive news we'll be hearing

from SCOTUS today, since yesterday they released the final two decisions of their turn.

The first will limit the power of the Environmental Protection Agency to regularly greenhouse emissions,

also known as protecting the environment.

The court voted 6-3 that the Clean Air Act does not grant the EPA the authority to adopt

their own regulatory scheme to cap carbon emissions in order to combat global warming.

Well, I guess if we all have to breathe an air that's laden with car exhaust, at least

there is some comfort in knowing that Clarence Thomas does, too.

The Supreme Court's final ruling of the term was in favor of the Biden administration, granting

them the authority to reverse the Trump era of remaining Mexico policy that requires asylum

seekers to, as you would expect, remain in Mexico while their cases are reviewed by US courts.

The court also said yesterday that they plan to rule next term on potential changes to

the way federal elections are run, which doesn't sound alarming at all.

The case they're looking at will potentially give state legislatures the sole authority

to set the rules for elections, even if they violate state constitutions and result in

extreme partisan gerrymandering.
