The stock market value of Google Parent Company Alphabet hit a trillion dollars for the first time

on Thursday.

Shares were up to about $14450 a piece at yesterday's clothes.

Last month, co-founder Larry Page and Sergei Bryn stepped back from Google.

They founded the company as students at Stanford University in 1998.

Now, under new Chief Executive Sundar Pichai, some on Wall Street hope that

Alphabet will become more disciplined in its spending, and that sentiment has boosted

the share price.

Google also stands to gain the most from the trend of global advertising and marketing

spending moving online.

Google is the fourth tech company to hit the milestone.
