So Gino Smith returned earlier this week, almost in shocking fashion.

And yesterday he did his media tour.

And to me, Gino said all the right things, said all the right notes.

He seems humble.

He seems excited.

But there was one thing he said on SportsCenter that jumped out at me.

Here is the question and here is Gino's answer.

You know, not many get the chance to go back to where they

started. What's a good ending for you in your return to New York with the fan base, with the

organization? What's a good ending? Well, hopefully the ending isn't coming soon. I got a lot of

years to play and I'm looking forward to, you know, again, just getting back into the building

starting at day one and building this thing from the ground up, brick by brick. The first thing he said jumps out at me because what we want, and the reason I was against acquiring Gino Smith, is that he's not the long-term answer. He's old. What is this leading me towards? Gino Smith, at 35 years old, he'll be 36 in the middle of October, just told all of us,

I got a lot of football left in me. I plan on this being a long-term solution for the New York Chats.

Now, I know that is very difficult for any of us to imagine. And I am certainly not sitting here

on March 13th, Friday the 13th, and telling you that Gino Smith is the long-term answer.

But like I also told you, Tiki, I like to dream.

Is it possible that we get another resurrection of Gino Smith and we're not drafting a quarterback next year?

And he's the guy?

It's probably wishful thinking.

But, I mean, Gino does it. And it's different for quarterbacks than it is for, say, a running back.

But he didn't take a ton of wear and tear, didn't get sacked, you know, 40, 50 times a year for about a half a decade because it just wasn't playing.

And so is he healthy?
