0:17.9	Less than a week ago I was relatively unfamiliar with the character known as Alexander Smyrnov,
0:27.0	but this week he is leading the headlines.
0:29.0	Yesterday, the DOJ Special Council who was investigating Hunter Biden, David Weiss, asked a judge to hold
0:35.2	Smyrnov in jail on pretrial detention, even though he had been released on Bond earlier
0:40.0	this week. The Special Counsel made their request on the grounds that Smyrnov has dual citizenship,
0:45.5	as well as access to substantial funds and extensive contacts with high-level Russian intelligence,
0:50.9	making him a significant flight risk.
0:53.0	Then just a few hours later, Smyrnov was re-arrested in Las Vegas
0:57.0	out of concerns that he might flee.
0:59.0	And, this is the important part,
1:01.0	concerns that he will continue to actively peddle new lies and
1:04.4	misinformation that could impact U.S. elections on behalf of Russian intelligence.
1:09.4	And given that Smyrnaudov was the key witness for Republicans in the House of Representatives attempt to impeach President Biden,
1:15.2	the revelation of his links to Russian intelligence are quite problematic.
1:19.3	However, there is one Republican standing up in the crowd.
1:22.6	Ken Buck of Colorado criticized his colleagues for using Smyrna's claims in their impeachment
