Here are today's top stories. It's Friday, August 16th.

Closing out the week with edge-of-your-seat election drama. The primary election race for Public Lands Commissioner in Washington is coming down to the wire.

Jeannie Lindsay reports officials are preparing for the possibility of a recount.

We know that former Congresswoman and Republican Jamie Herrera Butler will be on the ballot

for Washington Lance Commissioner this fall. But we don't know whether she'll face another

Republican in the race, Sue Peterson, or a Democrat, Dave Up the Grove. For the past few

days, Up the Grove has held on to a slim but shrinking lead over Peterson. But the race isn't over

yet. More ballots are being counted today, and the state certifies results next week. And if the

margin of victory between second and third place is

fewer than 2,000 votes, there will be a recount. I'm Jeannie Lindsay in Olympia.

Seattle Public School officials say a former Garfield High School coach charged with raping a basketball

player recently attended at least 13 school sporting events while on electronic

home monitoring. Anne Dornfeld has more. Walter Jr. Jones has had an ankle monitor for three
