Today, the United States has launched 59 Tomahawk missiles at an airbase in Syria,

a swift and decisive response to the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons against its own people.

Its President Trump's first military action, and the first time that the White House has ordered such action,

against forces loyal to Syrian President Bashir al-Assad.

And it happened. The United States Senate went nuclear.

Will the unforeseen consequences of a historically divided Congress ultimately be unity?

It's Friday, April 7th.

On Thursday night, President Trump spoke from Mar-a-Lago.

My fellow Americans, on Tuesday, Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians using a deadly nerve agent,

as I choked out the lives of helpless men, women, and children.

It was a slow and brutal death for so many.

Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack.

No child of God should ever suffer such horror.

Tonight I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched.

What happened on Thursday night?

So these Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched from two Navy worships in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The attack took place over the course of three to four minutes.

They targeted Syrian fighter jets, fuel depots, and other infrastructure.
