The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know.

The man who shot and killed seven people at a 22 4th of July parade in Illinois has been

sentenced to life in prison. The judge gave him seven life sentences, one for each person he

killed, and he will get no parole ever. The shooter pleaded

guilty last month and refused to show up to his own hearing yesterday. Things between India and

Pakistan are really heating up and not in a good way. While most of the world focuses on rivalries

like America versus China or Israel

and Palestine, we don't really give enough attention to the animosity between India and Pakistan.

Well, earlier this week, militants in Kashmir attacked a tourist area killing 26 people.

Now, Kashmir, if you didn't know, is claimed by India and has been since the British

partition in 1947. But the people of Kashmir don't really see it that way. Part of the

territory wants independence. The other part would rather join Pakistan. So for decades, there has been

fighting in and around this area. Quick note, by the way, if you just look at what Great Britain did

in the late 1940s, they didn't do the future world any favors. All right, back to this. After this

week's attack, both India and Pakistan have called to expel citizens back to their home countries

as the chance of an actual military operation has gone up.
