0:13.5	The PCUSA, one of the mainline Protestant denominations, one of the seven sisters of liberal
0:19.6	Protestantism in the United States, has recently
0:22.1	announced that it is firing its missionaries and ending its mission agency. So at first glance,
0:28.3	this appears to be a very sad story. The closer look, it becomes a very inevitable story.
0:33.5	But the news just broke, as Greg Garrison of the Birmingham News reported, quote,
0:37.9	the Presbyterian USA, a mainline Protestant denomination that has historically been one of the most
0:43.0	influential Christian missionary sending agencies, recently fired missionaries around the world,
0:48.2	and ended its foreign mission agency. The next paragraph, quote, the Office of Presbyterian
0:53.7	World Mission closed at the end of March after of Presbyterian World Mission closed at the end of
0:55.1	March after the Presbyterian Mission Agency merged with the Office of General Assembly
0:59.4	into the interim unified agency. End quote, well, that sounds like government bureaucracy,
1:05.0	but it means the end of organized missions through the Presbyterian Church USA.
1:11.1	There are some huge lessons here.
1:13.9	This is big news.
1:15.1	It's bigger than you might imagine, but it's a part of a very long story.
1:18.9	Now, before I go further, I need to clarify one very essential issue.
1:24.3	And that is that when I'm referring to the Presbyterian Church USA, I'm referring to a specific
1:30.3	Presbyterian denomination. It is the main liberal Presbyterian denomination in the United States.
