House Speaker Kevin McCarthy unveiled his opening budget offer as the US faces a potential

default this summer.

The Limit Save Grow Act would increase the federal debt limit by $1.5 trillion or until

March 2024, whichever comes first.

Additionally, it would cancel President Biden's student loan forgiveness program, rescind

new funding for the IRS, and enact work requirements for federal aid programs, among

other provisions.

The spending cuts would reportedly save $4.5 trillion.

McCarthy said in order to spend more, Washington will have to come together and find savings

elsewhere, just like every household in America.
