0:12.1	We are starting with an update on the slap, for hopefully the last time.
0:16.8	The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made an announcement late on Wednesday that
0:21.4	Will Smith was asked to leave the Oscar ceremony after he slapped Chris Rock on Sunday, but
0:26.4	that he had refused to go.
0:28.6	They also announced that they initiated disciplinary proceedings against him for violations of the
0:32.7	Academy's standards of conduct, and that will take a few weeks to conclude.
0:37.2	He will then be given at least 15 days notice of a vote over his violations and potential
0:41.6	sanctions, and will be given the opportunity to submit a written response beforehand.

0:51.0	I also want to note with this story, the TMZ is reporting that the Academy's claim
0:54.9	that they asked Will Smith to leave is not true.

1:05.8	Will was aware of these conversations, but he was actually told 35 minutes after the
1:09.7	slap by Oscar producer Will Packer, a different Will, that quote, we do not want you to leave.
