That crucial shipping lane on Iran's southern coast was a key provision of President Trump's

ceasefire agreement.

But since the president announced that deal, only a handful of ships have been allowed to pass.

Now President Trump is warning Iran against collecting tolls on ships in the strait.

But ABC's Olivia Rubin says that runs counter to what the president said just a few days ago.

Earlier this week, Trump told ABC's

Jonathan Carl, plans for a toll were being considered, and he said we're thinking of doing it

as a joint venture. Passage through the vital waterway was free before the war, and Iran did

little to police it. The tie up at the Strait of Hormuz is continuing to royal global markets.

Later this morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its inflation report for March.

Economists are predicting overall prices to have climbed more than 3% last month compared to a year

earlier. Also this morning, the Trump administration's sweeping global tariffs will face a critical test.
