In a new book called Beginners, the Joy and Transformative Power of Lifelong Learning,

writer Tom Vanderbilt embarked on a one-year experiment of learning several different

new skills, including juggling. He spoke with experts along the way to better understand the

psychology of how we learn, especially as adult beginners. Wired ran an excerpt from the book
