What is up everyone? Welcome back to the show. Today we're going to talk about a little issue in composting and that is how do you use manure in the garden

manure is just an absolutely wonderful source of organic matter.

However, there can be some issues when you use it in the garden.

So fresh manure has kind of come under some scrutiny and a lot of people wonder can you

fertilize with fresh manure?

Well first of all let's talk about manure as a fertilizer in general.

So manure is going to improve soil texture. It can help allow better

drainage. It can also help improve the soil's water holding capacity. So it

creates air pockets in which water can fall sort can fall through the soil, but also it can hold on to some water in the manure itself.

So if you have clay soil, compacted soil, hard pan soil, or even sandy soil, it can help improve that soil quality.

Now at the same time at improving the texture, it also can improve the nutrition

So you've got that slow and steady release of nutrients

as that manure decomposes.

And honestly, it's also pretty darn cheap.

However, you're not going to want to run out into the fields and collect some cow manure

and just toss it into your garden. Fresh manure can contain all sorts of bacteria, things like

cause really big problems if you eat edible vegetables that you grew in raw manure.
