Hello and welcome to the tennis podcast on one of the weirdest grand slam days that any of us can remember.

0:17.7

Remember men's semi-final day at the Australian Open? Yeah, this wasn't that.

0:23.4

We're coming to you early tonight because the second of the two men's single semifinal

0:29.3

scheduled to start at 7pm, half an hour ago, has been cancelled because Mateo Arnaudi

0:46.5

but it is nonetheless a huge blow for them, for the tournament,

0:51.0

obviously for Arnaldi and maybe even Flavio Caboli too,

0:56.0

who despite now being into a maiden grand slam final, frankly, seems mostly just distraught for his friend.

1:10.7

The two of them together, socially distanced at the desk,

1:16.1

Arnaldi departing halfway through,

1:18.4

leaving just as gutted a-looking Koboli

1:21.6

to field questions about the weird circumstances of reaching this final.

1:26.1

That press conference, David, was one of the weirdest things that I have ever experienced

1:31.7

while covering a Grand Slam.

1:33.9

Yeah, well, it reminded us of the pandemic, really.

1:39.1

And we've had a few things that have slightly reminded us the pandemic, not least the fact that Alexander's

1:44.9

very was in the final. You know, it's just one of those. But when we actually went out for a little

1:52.5

wonder, we watched the men's wheelchair doubles final with Alfie Hewitts and Gordon Reed
