Summary

Freezing is one of PD's most unusual symptoms. Whether it's a threshold, a zebra crossing or just getting out of bed, the sudden inability to move can strike at any moment. Why does it happen? And is there anything that can be done to combat this mysterious immobilisation? The Movers and Shakers – who have experienced very different types of freezing – squeeze into the Notting Hill pub (and hopefully don't freeze in place) with top experts on what's known as Freezing of Gait (FOG) or, here at M&S Towers, Freezing of Everything (FOE).

Movers & Shakers is brought to you by Cure Parkinson's.

Presented by Rory Cellan-Jones, Gillian Lacey-Solymar, Mark Mardell, Paul Mayhew-Archer, Sir Nicholas Mostyn and Jeremy Paxman.

Produced and edited by Nick Hilton for Podot.

I didn't just mean the fright for weather we've had outside, but what some of us suffer from. It's a distinctly odd phenomenon of freezing itself. Formerly it's known as fog, freezing of gait, which means when you're walking, you suddenly stop and can't get going again. Perhaps you stand up and can't get going at all. So who's here? Rory Kethynne. Paul May, you like to? Nicholas Mouston Gillen Lacey Salomon And do you freeze Recently we did an

1:29.2

We did an episode on fools. Paul, you told us about you fell because you froze? I do freeze. I freeze a lot, increasing every day now I'm freezing. And I have falls associated with freezing. The thing is about when I have a fall to do with freezing, I'm not freezing. my body, actually, I lose control of my entire body. So I sort of, I shiver. So you're paralysed? So I'm paralysed, but I shivered through my entire body. So I tumble and I fall. And I can't put any limbs out, arms to hold my fall or do anything. You can't put a limb out to break your fall? Yes, I can't put my arms out. I said you can't put the bins out. Limbs. It sounded like bins, but I think he meant limbs. And when I'm actually having a freezing attack, it's not to do with going through narrow spaces as much as embarrassment or anxiety. Do you have any understanding of what is happening by logic?
