Hey, listen, listen, if anyone ever asked you, like, why does Southland Christian Church do Jesus prom?

Just turn in your Bible to Luke chapter 14 and tell them what Jesus said, because he said,

when you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives.

And some of you are like, I'm in.

I'm already in for that.

Or your rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the cripple, the lame, the blind, and you'll be blessed because they cannot repay you. My friend, Brewster McLeod, about 25 years ago, had a dream. He was like, what if we just actually did what Jesus said? And that's what we've been doing ever since. And that's what we try to do around here. We read the Bible and we try to just do what the Bible tells us to do. So one more time, awesome job this year was Jesus' problem. I think it might have been one of the highest attended ones ever. The registration was through the roof. Participation was huge. Let's do this. Let's pray as we

dive into the scriptures today. Father God, thank you that we don't have to wonder where to turn.

We don't have to wonder who to turn to turn to you, but we can turn to your word and we can turn

to you. So as we open up your word today, Father, I pray that we not only be receptive to it,

but I pray that we'll also be responsive to it, Father. I pray that you'll open up our hearts as we open up your word and that you will do something new in us and through us today. It's in Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. Yeah, if you got your Bibles, go ahead and go right to where we left off last week. You're going to be in Galatians chapter 3.

A couple weeks ago, one of my sons was in the living room, and he had the remote control in his hand, and he said, hey, dad, do you want to watch a movie with me? And I was like, sure, what do you want to watch? She was like, I was thinking about watching this movie

about this family that has a pet chimp, and the chimp goes crazy and rips everybody's faces off. And I was like, that sounds awesome, let's watch that. And my wife, who was also in the room, was not very happy with our movie choice. And this is something that happens all the time, especially if we have like the whole family there,

because that brings seven of us now,

everybody's got all these different opinions on what movie to watch. And my son-in-law the other day,

Jack, he won, he carried the day. He suggested we watched this movie called Interstellar. And again,

my wife was not happy because she doesn't like

what she calls space movies. And I was willing to withhold judgment. So for like the first 45 minutes, I was totally in. I thought it was really, really good. And it's all about this whole idea. You've seen it many times before in different ways where, hey, human beings have trashed the planet. We've got to find another planet

to live on. So we've got to figure out how to get everybody to it, or at least enough people to it, so that we can inhabit this new planet and all that kind of stuff. But after about the 45-minute mark, it started to make me do something that I don't like to have to do when I watch movies. it started making me have to think a lot.

And I'm at a stage in my life where, man,

I don't want to watch a movie to think.
