In today's episode, we are going to talk about delineating what you will not do in order

to do what you're doing better.

So I want to start by sharing a text I sent out in our text community the other day, and

then I'll expound upon it here.

It said, clearly delineating what you will not do in any given moment, frees your attention

to fully engage in what you are doing.

A long-to-do list is not the hindrance to performance.

It's our ambiguity around what we should be doing in this moment.

So that last line I especially want us to pay attention to because I think that's really

the punchline here, that often when we look at why we're not being effective or why maybe

we even feel tense with our work, it's often coming from a place I have so much to do.

There's just so many things on the to-do list.

But the reality is that it doesn't matter how long that to do a list is you can only

do one of those things in any moment.

They're not even a full thing, just a piece of that thing in any given moment.

So what is actually being asked of you is not that whole to-do list.

It's the thing that's here.
