Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk of Radio.

It's the big weekend, ladies and gentlemen, and in large parts of this country, you

might be able to do very much, I'm afraid.

If you're looking for some excitement, here's an idea, you can always put the clocks back

a day early and pretend that you're ahead of the game.

But if you're in Tier 3 lockdown, I'm afraid it is not going to be much fun.

Yesterday, Rishi Sunak let go over the purse strings a little more so that businesses in Tier 2 could get their hands on some money to compensate them for their inability to conduct normal business.

But there hasn't exactly been universal rejoicing up and down the land.

And poor old Andy Burnham still looks about as miserable as he did the other day.

There are still problems in Wales, of course, in Scotland, in Liverpool, in Manchester, in South Yorkshire,

and now there are more lockdowns planned in the home counties and the Midlands as well.

But there's also a new study from the University of Edinburgh that reveals that staying in actually doesn't do any good.

You just heard the last guest on Julie Hartley Brewers show saying, by the way, cats have got it as well.

So if you've got a cat, you're never going to get rid of it.

Unless you get rid of a cat, of course, which wouldn't be recommended. Not on this show.
