In part one, we talked about the history of North Sentinel Island, the kidnappings, the violent encounters, the decades of failed contact attempts, and that iconic 2004 photograph of a Sentinelese man shooting an arrow at a helicopter after the tsunami.

The Indian government had stopped all contact expeditions.

The island was protected now by law. A three-mile exclusion zone was being enforced by the Indian Navy.

And for a while, things were quiet until they weren't.

Because you see, the sentinoles, they stay on high alert.

On the night of August 2nd, 1981, a massive cargo ship called the M.V. Primrose was caught in a monsoon storm in the Bay of Bengal.

The massive 16,000-ton freighter carrying chicken feed from Bangladesh to Australia

was commanded by Captain Liu Chung-Lung with a crew of 31, mostly from Hong Kong,

battered by a massive storm for hours. The ship slammed into a coral reef and grounded just before midnight. At dawn, the crew saw they were stuck just yards from a pristine island with a white sand beach and dense jungle.

Initially, they expected a quick rescue.
