At some point, 25 years ago, Fred Smoot was working out for teams, getting ready for the 2001 NFL draft, a draft in which he went pretty high.

Second rounder, 45th overall, although he thought he was going in the first round.

What do you remember about the lead-up to the draft in 2001?

Well, you know, it's the process of once you finish the bowl game, your season really starts.

It starts with where do you train it?

I started off training at Chris Carter Camp that was in Miami.

Then I left there and I trained in Houston.

And then after that, it comes the combine.

Well, people think the combine is all about us running and lifting weights. The first thing we do,

the first day we land professors go to the hospital. We spend the first day. And I've always,

and I was talking to Logan and to Santana about it. Did I feel like that was fair for you to have to go through

everything medical in the first day, including giving up paints of blood, and then have to come

out and lift weights and go top speed. Like I've always said, I think physically that put us at a

disadvantage, but I think I was blown away with all the medical

and I was blown away with all the mental because we took you take one test per team so there's

32 tests I mean 32 tests for the teams you also take the wonder link test and then you have a team

like do your job that has a test with like 200 questions on it.
