Hey, welcome back everybody. This is Larry. Well, more you're listening to black on the air. Happy New Year to everyone. Happy 2021. I can't believe it. 2020 is gone. You guys it's gone.

It's gone. It is gone, but it's so funny that we all think that just because 20 joy is gone that everything's gonna be better. Well, let's hope everything's gonna be better, but it's not like the Corona virus knows what year it is, but I am very, very hopeful for this year.

I think thank God this vaccine is happening right now. I hope they get I hope they get this roll out moving a little more smoothly, let's say.

But I got high hopes for 2021. Got a lot of pressure on you 2020. When this is the year of the ox, the Chinese year of the ox and I was born in the year of the ox. So hopefully that was a good year when I was born.

You know, some good stuff happened in 1961 wasn't a bad year. So this year, the year of ox, hopefully 2021 will be good too. On the show today, we have Fred Claire, who is the former general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He helped lead that 1988 to World Championship.

And Fred is coming on to talk about his journey with cancer recently and his partnership with the city of Hope in fighting that. And Fred is a friend of mine.

I used to live a few houses down from me here in Pasadena. Now he lives a couple blocks away, but I've known Fred for for a good while now. And he's really, his story is really inspiration.

I want you guys to hear and his book, there's a book extra innings that was written by Tim Madigan about Fred's journey and everything's great book. It really is fascinating.

And I wanted people to know about the city of Hope as well as does Fred as kind of both literally about the city of Hope and as a metaphor for kind of what we need this year, you guys after what we went through last year, you know, we need a country of hope.

Not just the city of hope, but the city of hope is this amazing place that literally does give people second, third, fourth chances, you know, and is here in Southern California.

One of their models is, you know, it's not just bringing years to your life, but life to your years, you know, and that's, I think that's awesome.

I wanted to start the year with something a little positive, a little positive journey. We need a lot of positivity this year, you know, 2021, we'll mix it up a lot here.

I did a lot of talking about politics in the last six months, because I wanted to cover the election. But as you know, it's not the only thing I'm interested in.

Love talking about acting and writing, those things and showbiz, you know, I love sports, which, you know, we get to talk a little bit about Fred today about baseball a little bit.

You know, talk about my Lakers, people know that I do slide of hand magic, you know, that type of thing.

Love talking about science and some of the advances that we're making. So we'll mix it up a lot this year. Well, I think we want to after this, you know, big, you know, after 2020 was just so filled with the pandemic and the election.

A little breather, how some fun this year talk about a lot of different topics and we'll cover politics and culture as well as we always do things and I'm also interested in.

And I would love to hear from you guys topics that you would love me to talk about or guess that you would love for me to talk to, you know, and of course, I'm always interested in books and that sort of thing.

And ironically is my favorite type of book, but there's a lot of good novels out there and stuff too. So that's what we're looking to do this year.

And let's see today is January 2nd. So we got 18 more days to that mofo is gone. He's going to be gone. You guys that mofo going to be gone, which is good. He'll be able to play all the golf he wants to.

I think he should be happy about that. Although we'll be interested to see what happens on January 6th when the boat. I think it's sort of certified through Congress or whatever it is and Trump is trying to get pins to do his dirty deeds right now. It's so hilarious, you know.

And I think pens is like actually saying, I don't want to do that like pens is actually getting, you know, getting those stink eye towards Trump right now. It's kind of interesting. Do you think pens is going to run in 2024?
