Summary

#88. Franz Amussen, host of the 'Sailing the Med' podcast, joins Andy to discuss his namesake podcast. They recorded over Skype, Andy in Toronto for the boat show there, Franz in his home in Salt Lake City.

This is the first part of a two-part episode, and is mostly Franz interviewing Andy about his own sailing career, cruising in the Baltic, Swedish customs and other fun stuff. Towards the end the tables are turned and Franz is the one answering questions, but they ran out of time before getting too far into it. Stay tuned for a Part 2 coming up soon!

0:21.5

days of skiing, just Mia and I, and we're about to head home. I say that because this episode is

0:27.6

with Franz Amasin. I think I'm pronouncing his name right. Anyway, he hosts the Sailing the Med podcast,

0:34.4

but happens to live in Salt Lake City. So I thought it was appropriate to release this one

0:37.5

while we were in Utah. I'm not sure what episode number this is, but again, it's sponsored by

0:42.7

Weems and Plath. So a big thanks to Weems and Plath for sponsoring this episode of the podcast.

0:47.8

Like I said, in the last episode, they've been going now for almost 100 years, and they make some of the

0:52.4

finest nautical instruments and tools that

0:55.4

you can use and I use all that stuff on our boat. I teach it in my celestial class and I'm a huge

1:01.3

fan of it. I used Williams and Plath long before they ever started sponsoring the podcast. So it's

1:06.9

very cool to have them on board. One of their new lines they just came out with is a line of top end binoculars. I got a pair of them that I'm taken to the Caribbean with me next week, and I'll give you the full report on how those work. But they're really sweet. I'm very excited to use those. So check that stuff out. Everything's available on weems-plath.com. Again, weems- dash plath.com and a big thanks to them for sponsoring

1:30.3

this episode of the podcast. Like I said, this is Franz Amundsen who hosts the Sailing the Med

1:36.0

podcast. So if you're looking for some more sailing podcasts, check his out. I actually haven't

1:41.1

heard it yet, but I've heard good things from some of my listeners. So I'm going to check that out myself. This episode kind of, we recorded this when I was in Toronto at the boat show, and Franz interviews me as much as I interview him. This is going to be a two-parter. I need to finish my side of the interview with Franz because it went too long and I ran out of time, so I had to go to the boat show. So it kind of cuts off abruptly, but I'm going to do a follow-up with Franz and get
