Hello and welcome to Story Time for Grownups. I'm Faith Moore, and this season we're reading

0:06.5

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Each episode, I'll read a few chapters from the book, pausing from time

0:13.6

to time to give brief explanations so it's easier to follow along. It's like an audiobook with built-in

0:19.9

notes. So brew a pot of tea, find a cozy chair,

0:23.6

and settle in. It's story time.

Hi everyone. Welcome back and happy October. We made it to October. It is officially

0:46.2

spooky season, if that's your thing. So I'm so glad to be here with you. Thank you for joining me today.

0:53.2

The fact that it is October means that we

0:55.4

are pretty much exactly halfway through this book. This book is going to take us just about two

1:00.0

months to read. We started it at the very beginning of September, so it is now the very beginning

1:04.3

of October, which means that we are halfway through. So last time I said that when it became October,

1:09.9

about what would happen next after we finished Frankenstein. So we're going to finish

1:17.7

Frankenstein on October 30th. That will be our wrap-up episode. I always do one at the very

1:24.0

end of each book where we just kind of tie up any loose ends. We have more of a

1:29.2

big picture discussion, so we don't read any book that day, but we just kind of conclude everything,

1:35.5

so we feel like we've had some closure and we can move on to the next thing. So that is going to be

1:40.2

October 30th. That's a Thursday. It's the day before Halloween, so it's the perfect time

1:44.5

to end our reading of Frankenstein. And then we will not take any kind of break. The next

1:50.7

episode will come out on Monday, which is November 3rd. So then we'll be into November. Now,

1:57.9

normally, I am a purist about when Christmas begins, when the Christmas

2:04.8

season begins. And I know that different people have different opinions about this. But
