While you were away and having a grand old time of it in the Dominican Republic, there was a lot that happened in the NFL, as I'm sure you know, when you were keeping up on things. The big one around here would be the acquisition of Gino Smith. Did that catch you by surprise at all? What were your thoughts when you heard that news? I mean, you know, it had been floating around for about a week to 10 days that they were very, very interested in him. And I guess what they had to do with the Raiders,

they just had to figure out the amount of money that the Jets were going to be paying, Jim Smith. Now, they're paying what, $3.3 million, I think. I think they gave him an extra million dollars just to make the trade on this, to make him happy and looking forward to come play for the Jets.

You know, he fits the bill.

So he is a veteran quarterback.

He's not going to go win you Super Bowls.

He's going to be able to get you in and out of the huddle.

I think last year was an anomaly given how well he had played in Seattle in previous years.

And one of those anomalies was because of

Chip Kelly was his offensive coordinator in Vegas. He ended up getting fired in the middle of the

year. And then even Pete Carroll came out and said that he blames himself for Gino's performance

last year and that, you know, he would be a perfect fit for what the Jets would be looking for. So

what you're hoping, and like I said last week, what they're hoping for is to find somebody like when Ryan Fitzpatrick was here, somebody that actually can help you win games.

Hopefully he's not going to be doing what Russell Wilson did for the Giants early last year, throwing those interceptions late in games.

That's not what you want.

What you want is

you want a seasoned veteran quarterback that basically costs no money against your salary cap situation,

which I love. And the other thing that Darren Moji has done here, he's signed a lot of one-year

contracts. And why has he done that? Well, he's done that because he's got about $91 million

in dead cap money this year. But next year in 20 Well, he's done that because he's got about $91 million in dead cap money this year.

But next year in 2027, he's going to have a wide open balance sheet.

And hopefully they will be able to draft somebody maybe this year that they think can be the

quarterback of the future or they'll go in all next year on one of these quarterbacks

...
