Summary

Nominated by Japan’s Savant Society as Professor of World Archaeology, Frank Joseph is a veteran scuba diver and participant in hundreds of underwater expeditions off the coast of Africa, in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and Polynesia. The editor-in-chief of Ancient American magazine from 1993 to 2007, he has traveled the world collecting research materials for his 27 published books, including The Lost Worlds of Ancient America, The Atlantis Encyclopedia, Unearthing Ancient America, and The Lost Colonies of Ancient America, all published by New Page Books. Joseph lives with his wife, Laura, and cat, Sammy, in the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

0:46.3	you know this is October fest week, it's the beginning of October fest and occasionally I do

0:56.2	fast. I have a quarter German and my grandfather migrated from Dusodor
1:02.0	19. from Dusordorf, 1906, I think, when he was a kid.
1:08.0	And he didn't really wear the leaderhosen, but I in my adult years took up the banter and I bought a pair of leaderhosen's about about 20 years ago and I would go to local events and see what was
1:27.3	going on but in the last decade here in San Francisco they celebrate October Fest which for those of you
1:35.5	who don't know the true celebration it was actually for the wedding of King
1:41.7	Leopold of Bavaria and his wife and it's spun off and morphed into two, it's actually four weeks of celebration in Munich they celebrated the last two weeks of
1:55.0	September and the first two weeks of October.
1:59.0	And I'll tell you, that's a lot of partying going on there.
2:02.0	But I haven't been, haven't had a chance to go to Munich to see all the festivities but out here in
2:08.3	Northern California and San Francisco they basically convert a pier, Pier 48, which is right on the bay, and they make it a
2:18.1	beer garden and each night they pack in about 5,000 people and I really like it because they do a wonderful job.
2:28.0	They have the trimmings and tree, they bring in trees and foliage and they have a 27-piece band, they have traditional dance,
2:40.3	and it's really kind of a cool thing because San Francisco is very cosmopolitan and there's a lot of people that come over from Europe and just around the world to celebrate.

3:03.4	leaderhosen and it's like oh yeah no no they're like you know they fit very
