I'm blessed this evening to be gathered with Archbishop and a number of great friends. So let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We continue to pray for the healing of little Olivia and Damien for all those on our heart.

Now today, December 3rd is the feast of St. Francis Xavier,

one of the greatest missionaries in the history of St. Francis Xavier, one of the greatest missionaries in the history of Christianity.

But Francis Xavier would not have become a missionary or a saint without his friends, beginning with the Ignatius of Loyola.

So Francis was born in the Castle Xavier in Spain in 1506 and he went to college in Paris and it was there that he met Ignatius.

Ignatius was a former military officer who was wounded in battle and converted as he recovered.

Ignatius took the initiative to develop a deep friendship with Francis Xavier, Peter Faber, Diego Leonese, Alonso Salmaran, Nicholas Bobodelia, and Simon Rodriguez.

And these seven friends shared life together.

And they often met in one another's homes to share a meal and to talk about their dreams,

but also to enjoy leisure and laughter and prayer.
