We're back on another edition of the first draft podcast. It's Tuesday, March 9th, which is in some NFL circles known as franchise tag Deadline Day, but of course the focus of today's show will be on the draft Mel Kuiper, Todd McShay and I am feel Yates Mel will start with you. How are you on this glorious Tuesday, which finally feels like spring.

It does look at the 71 degrees now, so it's pretty amazing that we had a cold weekend and a cold start to the week, but today it's 71. I think so to be really nice all week, maybe a spring shower later in the week, and I know McShay just gave me news before the show that he's actually ready to start golfing again.

That's the name of that bad anymore. You know, we'll have like six foot ways heading to Nantucket. It's calming down a little bit up in Boston. I know in Connecticut as well, snow is melting, so make everything is kind of looking like spring these days.

Maybe the only thing we're worried about is that chair that you're rocking on. It's not a rocker. I'm making a rock. By the way, I broke my, my, my true lazy boy rocker. How many a year?

This one lasted exactly this last 16 months. 16 months. That's good for you. Now, how long have you been purchasing these lazy boy rockers? How many of we gone through in totality?

Apart the last of ladies and boys, whatever it is, I've gone through since.

Well, I used to have the rocking horse when I was a kid. Remember that horse that rock? Since I was, since I was less than paid, I was doing the thing there, but I'd play, I'd go through, I'd go through since I was 10, a share a year.

About that. That is dedication. You need some stock. I tell you, we got more shares down there. I mean, it's like, it looks like, it looks like a furniture store.

It might be some value for those aren't eBay. I see people buy, you know, immediate top shot. Money's going up the door crazy. So maybe you could turn your, your old chairs into something here.

You know, I'd be rocking a boom. That's right. What's almost fell off the deck when a chair out on our deck at the first house? I was reading a paper and I was near the edge and the thing went to him and I was, I was, I was, I was killed myself. I'll fly off the deck or broken my neck.

Todd, I'm thinking that we need a Kuiper family reality TV show at some point. I would, I would try to pitch it for years. He doesn't have an ATM card, the pumpkin pie, the rocking chairs. There's just so much to it.

I would be all in on that show. We're going to, as I mentioned, get to a couple of pieces of news surrounding the franchise tag deadline, which as we record as less than two hours away, but most of the news has piled in.

Also, Todd's mock draft 3.0, which came out last week and males all time topped quarterbacks, based off their pre draft grade. We're going to start today with news from Chris Mortensen, the great Chris Mortensen, the legendary Chris Mortensen, who reported, I'll make the short version here that essentially the Eagles, especially per the recommendation of their owner, or including further recommendation of their owner, Jeffrey Laurie are going to build around jail and hurts this year.

So Todd, I'll start with you. What's your initial reaction to the idea of building around jail and hurts?

I think it's a mistake. I'll be honest. I don't think jail and hurts is accurate enough as a passer. And maybe they see things in, you know, in practice and kind of working with them that I have not seen.

But there's a reason that to a tongue of ILO became the guy in Alabama and then hurts one up, moving on to Oklahoma. I think he's a good quarterback. I think he's a great young man.

Like the toughness and the competitiveness that he brings is outstanding. But can you win a Super Bowl with jail and hurts? I mean, that would be my question.

Mal, I'll turn it over to you before I chime in. Can you win with me with jail and hurts?

I don't think we know. I think with as Todd said, the improvement that he's known, they know we don't.

We know his competitiveness and his work ethic and how he galvanizes the football team and his ability to be a dull threat quarterback.

And what a winner he was at Alabama and Oklahoma. I think to move forward with him. I don't have a problem with it. This is kind of a situation where you want to either be all in the hippie path.

And that's where I am with these quarterbacks. If you're going to go with jail and hurts go get him some talent and then get everybody healthy, which was not the case for Carson.
