Hello again, everybody, and welcome to the Mike Francesa podcast for our second football Friday of the season.

As we get ready for week number two, here on the Bet Rivers Network.

Now, I've said this many times, and you hear it a lot of places, but it's always

true. The overreaction to week one in the NFL is extraordinary. It never lessens.

The roof falls in. The problem, the thing is is people wait so much for football. They get really

nothing of consequence out of the preseason. So when they finally get a real game, they make

huge declarations off one game.

And it's silly, but it just happens all the time.

Now, there are things that do happen quickly in this league.

Injuries, look at San Francisco, lose their wonderful tight end,

lose their quarterback at least probably for a couple of weeks.

That's devastating.

Have to have to send their kicker goodbye.

That's a devastating change in their team.

And that obviously has to be dealt with.

But when it's just an opinion of performance, remember, a lot of guys have to work themselves back into shape,

and units have to work themselves back into sync. So before you make a declaration,

oh, this unit's no good. This unit's terrible. This unit's not going to improve this.

Remember that you have pieces coming together.

It's the first time everybody's playing four quarters.

They have to work themselves into shape during the September heat.
