30 Western leaders have been holding talks with Volodymyr Zelensky

over what security guarantees there could be for Ukraine in the event of a peace deal with Russia.

The summit in Paris of the Coalition of the Willing, as it's called,

brought together leaders from Europe, Australia, Japan and Canada,

although even some neighbouring countries chose to attend by VideoLink.

The coalition does not include the US.

For months now, it's talked at various levels

about how to provide possible military support for Kiev

to help deter Russia from attacking again.

Up until now, those efforts have stalled,

as governments have said any European military role would need its own US security guarantees

as a backstop.

There is no promise from President Trump on those.

The Polish foreign minister, Radek Sikorski told the BBC the Allies had to work on shifting

the Russian president's mindset.

We think that Putin will only make peace when he has concluded that he cannot win this war

in an acceptable cost. And he's clearly not there, and we need to

change his calculus. Speaking in the Ukrainian capital yesterday, the UK defence minister John Healy

told the BBC's Sarah Rainsford that Ukraine's allies would support the country before and after
