Plus, Intel has been frantically trying to turn itself into a chip-making powerhouse, but it just can't catch a break.

I'm Kasha Bresolian and here's the news you need to start your day. Apple showed off its iPhone 16 to the world on Monday. It's the first of the

tech giant smartphones to be quote designed from the ground up

for artificial intelligence. Siri is getting a bit of a glow up on the 16 and

people will also have free access to chat gPT.

The launch of the new phone comes as Apple is trying to establish itself

as a big player in AI,

or as the company's calling it, Apple Intelligence.

So a lot is writing on this latest iPhone.

Sales have been kind of lackluster in recent years,

and Apple is hoping that the new AI features

will convince millions of people to go out and upgrade to the latest

version.

Apple shares ended the day flat. France has asked the European Commission for more time to come up with a

deficit reduction plan. The deadline to submit is September 20th. The country will now most likely send it along a bit later, along with its draft
